Little Giant Ladders - They're American Made ! ;void(0))   You can seldom channel surf without seeing infomercials about The Little Giant Ladder System, and the fact that you are reading this indicates interest. You've heard the phrase, "One Ladder Does It All," but here on the internet you see dozens of listings for Little Giant Ladder products, many of them different than what you have seen on the infomercial. Different sizes, different weight ratings, different styles...Confusing, isn't it ! So what type and size of Little Giant product should you order? The answers to those questions may be found on this page, so you can make an informed decision and know what to expect when ordering a Little Giant product from The Little Ladder Store. First, Wing Enterprises, Inc., is an American company located in Springville, Utah, making the quality Little Giant products for more than 32 years. For decades these fine, guaranteed products have been sold at trade, farm, and military shows, and through retail dealers. Recently, they have been featured on TV infomercials, and the response has been tremendous, completely surpassing all expectations. It seems the public really was looking for a safe alternative to the flimsy ladders that most people own. Wing Enterprises, Inc. makes several sizes of heavy duty ladders and accessories for industrial, commerical, and household use. They call these adjustable ladders, as shown in the picture above, "The Little Giant Ladder System." Ladders have different OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) and ANSI (American National Standards Institute) ratings that manufacturers must meet. The Little Giant Ladder System not only meets these standards, but far surpasses them, being tested at four times their weight ratings. They are made in a Type 1AA (375# rating), Type 1A (300# rating), and Type 1 (250# rating). One of the unique features of all the Little Giant Ladder System models, is that they can separate into two A-Frame ladder stands and used for scaffold trestles, as shown in the picture.  Another Little Giant product is the telescoping scaffold plank, also shown in the above picture.Wing Enterprises also makes the Little Giant Fiberglass Ladder System, a non-conductive model for electrical contractors and electricians, which is also a Type 1A rated ladder.   Wing Enterprises also makes the world's tallest step ladders,"SkyScraper" Telescoping A-Frame step ladders, which are adjustable, heavy duty Type 1A stepladders used in place of setting up scaffold, and a two, three, or four step stool called the Little Giant Safety Step Stool.   Wing Enterprises recently introduced an adjustable, three legged "orchard ladder," called the Little Giant Ultra Step Ladder,also a Type 1A, which is available in both aluminum and fiberglass.The ANSI rating for a Type 1 ladder is "Type I, Heavy Duty, Industrial Use (250 pound load capacity)." The Little Giant Ladder System ladders with this rating would be suitable for normal household or light commercial use. Some regular aluminum extension ladders that many people own have this rating, but their "overlapping" construction, light weight materials, and straight legs make them feel wobbly and unstable. (Many aluminum and wooden step ladders have an even lighter, "household use" 200lb rating). The Little Giant Ladder System Type 1 ladders offered by Wing Enterprises, Inc., however, far surpass the load testing required to meet the Type 1 rating, and their locking construction, telescoping design, and flared legs make them much more stable and safe.  The Little Giant Ladder System Type 1, 250# rated ladders are offered in Models 17 and 22, as shown in the above picture (the smaller Model 13 Type 1 shown has been discontinued). Their respective fully extended usable lengths are 15' and 19'. Their respective weights are approximately 27 and 36 lbs. Wing Enterprises, Inc.'s recently updated its conditional warranty to "Lifetime" on this group of ladders. The rating for a Type 1A ladder is "Type 1A, Extra Heavy Duty/Professional Use (300 pound load capacity)." Built from heavier material than the Type 1 ladders, they are designed for heavy use in any capacity around the home or on commercial or industrial sites. The Little Giant Type 1A ladders also far surpass the testing required to meet this standard. Wing Enterprises, Inc. gives a Conditional, Lifetime Warranty on the Type 1A Little Giant Ladder Systems.  The best-selling "as seen on TV" Little Giant Ladder System Type 1A, 300# rated ladders are shown in the above picture, and are offered in Model 13, 17, 22, and 26. Their respective fully extended lengths are 11', 15' 19' and 23', and their respective weights are approximately 26, 35, 42, and 54 lbs. As you can compare, they are built heavier than the Type 1 ladders, giving them the "extra heavy duty" rating.   The hinge mechanisms are also 33% thicker than the 250lb rated ladders, having four hinge plates (the Type 1 has three), and additional inserts in some models to control flexing in the extension position. These hinges are tested to withstand 1200 lbs of weight! The Little Giant Ladder System Type 1A models are truly "lifetime" ladders, worthy of their guarantee, and 2006 brought another new feature to select models of Type 1A ladders. To help in moving around these heavy duty ladders, "Tip'n'Glide" wheels were added. Retrofit kits are also available for previously manufactured ladder systems.The rating for a Little Giant Type 1AA ladder is "Type IAA, Special Heavy Duty/Professional Use (375 pound load capacity)." This is the highest rating for ladders designed for rugged use in any capacity on commercial or industrial sites.  The Little Giant Ladder System Type 1AA are available in Model 13, 17, and 22, as shown above. Their respective weights are 36, 45, and 51 lbs, and also have a conditional lifetime guarantee. If you plan on using your Little Giant Ladder System as an extension ladder, take a look at this picture to get an idea of the length of ladder that you should order.   The Model 17, Type 1A ladder shown above is the one you see featured on the TV infomercial, and under the current promotion includes a popular accessory, the "Work Platform," which is a necessary item if you plan on using the Little Giant Ladder Systems in the scaffold positions.
